Dr. Kristen Cooksey Stowers is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Allied Health Sciences. She has a strong interdisciplinary background in health equity, agricultural economics, public policy, and medical sociology. Her program of research focuses on reducing inequities in diet-related health outcomes by improving macro- and micro-level food environments through sustainable policy solutions.
Amanda Karls brings over a decade of law, policy, and community engagement experience to her work at the Public Health Law Center. She is adept at complex legislative and regulatory analysis and focuses on addressing issues at the intersection of food systems and health equity. Amanda’s prior professional experience includes litigation and appellate work in private legal practice, and legal analysis, and thought leadership strategy for an international corporation. Amanda has been published in numerous legal journals in the U.S. and internationally.
