The City of South Bend released and passed its Carbon Neutral 2050 plan at the end of 2019 as the culmination of the work of youth and community activists. It aims to cut South Bend's greenhouse gas emissions 26% from 2005 levels, and 100% by 2050. But what are the city's next steps? How can we expect the city to change between now and 2050? And what legislative or policy solutions do we need to make the goals of the plan a reality? Therese Dorau will answer those questions and more.

Therese is the Director of Sustainability for the City of South Bend, Indiana, where she is responsible for climate and energy programs. Before joining the City, she managed consulting projects related to energy efficiency, renewable energy, and environmentally-friendly practices for corporate, federal, and local government clients. Therese has a B.S. in Chemistry from Xavier University and an M.S. in Sustainable Systems from the University of Michigan’s School of Natural Resources and Environment. In her spare time, Therese takes advantage of the great South Bend-area amenities, including the arts and music scene, restaurants and microbreweries, and hiking and biking trails

This is a free event and everyone is welcome.  Beverages and light desserts will be provided, and we encourage you to bring your lunch and reusable beverage container.
