Kendra McLauchlan Ph.D. will give a seminar entitled “The ecosystem consequences of wildfire activity over space and time”.

Dr. McLauchlan is a Program Director in the Ecosystem Science cluster in the Division of Environmental Biology, Biological Sciences Directorate at the National Science Foundation. At NSF, she also works on the Navigating the New Arctic and Dimensions of Biodiversity working groups. Dr. McLauchlan is also a Professor in the Department of Geography and Geospatial Sciences at Kansas State University where she directs the Paleoenvironmental Lab. Her research program reconstructs ecosystem history for the past decades to millennia through proxy records preserved in sediment cores, soils, and wood of living trees. Dr. McLauchlan founded and led the Novus Research Coordination Network that synthesized biogeochemical response to disturbance from paleo- to neo-timescales. She also serves as a Councilor in Geochronology-Geophysics-Geochemistry for the American Quaternary Association and has been selected to stand for President-Elect in 2020. Dr. McLauchlan earned a B.A. in Biology from Carleton College and both an M.S. and Ph.D. in Ecology from the University of Minnesota.

Sponsored by the Department of Biological Sciences presented by the University of Notre Dame Environmental Research Center.
