Conscious Campus Road Tour

Location: Debartolo Hall & Geddes Coffee House (View on map )

*Below is the general description of the nation-wide program, followed by specifics for the events at Notre Dame*

The Conscious Campus Road Tour, hosted by Turning Green, is a seven week cross-country journey to sixteen school campuses across the United States. On each campus, Turning Green provides students with unique hands-on opportunities to mobilize around sustainable solutions on their campus. Each stop features a “Conscious Information Station” tabling event focused on six key lifestyle themes and a “Town Hall Meeting” to develop a collaborative student led initiative. Through educational resources, advocacy campaigns, and actionable projects, Turning Green sets the stage for students to spearhead a variety of environmental initiatives that scale impact.

The Conscious Information Station is a peer education event where student volunteers teach the campus community about conscious living. At the Town Hall Meeting, interested individuals from the school community gather to build capacity around a pre-determined project and work to develop a comprehensive timeline and action plan that can be implemented during the school year. For the balance of the year, the TG team mentors and supports student leaders remotely to see projects to completion. Turning Green builds leadership capabilities amongst program participants by providing opportunities for program alumni to serve as Campus Representatives that operate as peer-to-peer educators and on-campus advocates for identifying and implementing sustainability initiatives and by providing opportunities for students to serve on Turning Green’s Student Advisory Board. This opportunity enables selected individuals to practice their leadership skills while informing the future planning and refinement of Turning Green programs.

Specifically at Notre Dame, there will be an "information station" set up in front of Debartolo Hall from 11:00 am till 3:00pm, with plenty of free samples and information regarding sustainable consumerism. That same day, April 5th, there will be a town hall meeting from 6:00 pm till 8:30 pm in Geddes Coffee House where attendees will discuss possible projects and timelines for implementation here on the Notre Dame campus. This event is sponsored by Student Government.
