Barry Lopez

Barry Lopez, an alumnus of Notre Dame, is the author of Arctic Dreams, which received the National Book Award for Nonfiction, and Of Wolves and Men, a National Book Award Finalist and winner of the John Burroughs Medal for Best Book of Natural History.

He writes often about the relationship between the physical landscape and human culture, and has published nine additional volumes of fiction and two of nonfiction essays.

He has received major awards from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, the Lannan Literary Award, and the John Hay Medal; fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation, the Lannan Foundation, and the National Science Foundation.

A book signing will follow his talk. Open to the public.
